Years ago while I was attending college I had a goal of becoming a photojournalist however, life has a way of rerouting you and I shelved that particular quest. Fast forward twenty-plus years and I recently accepted a job for our local online Newspaper MariposaToday.com working as a correspondent. Adding my talents all together I’m finding this new adventure suits me well and fits in with the other demands in my life nicely.

I can officially say I was Made in Mariposa, I was born and raised in Mariposa Ca. many new families have moved and settled here over the years. I’m a 5th generation Mariposa native related to many old local family names. My goal is to represent Mariposa’s residents, its issues, and local news in the best way possible using my knowledge of the area.

I will continue to photograph local events and do travel, portrait, and family photography, those photos will be available on my main website at joannaransom.smugmug.com.
